The times in Ancient Greece were very gruesome because of all the different periods and battles they went through. The soldiers for battle were put through many tasks that in many circumstances it would come to life or death. They usually started recruiting people at the age of 12 and the lifestyle of war and killing were all the people knew.Cyrus the second was a Persian King who conquered the Roman Greek city-states. He was a strong leader who was good at getting his men ready for battle. Aspasia was the first lady of Athens who had good control over her soldiers
even though she was a woman. One of the very tough times in ancient Greece was during the dark ages. That period was when the population dropped and the food production decreased immensely. The hoplites were armed infintry soldiers from ancient Greece that were well trained and good with 'close quarters' battles. All in all, the soldiers in ancient Greece were a strong force and were greatly feared by other countries. They trained hard and knew nothing but war and battle starting from a young age.
